Cultural Series: How AI Impacts Learning

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently claimed that, "a kid growing up today will never be smarter than AI." Are claims like these justified? Cognitive psychologist Aimee Knupsky will share an overview about AI, including examples of how it is being used in our lives, and what research suggests might be the impacts on human learning and behavior. As concerns about data centers required to power AI grow, we will reflect on costs and benefits so we can make informed choices about the incorporation of AI into our daily lives. No previous experience with AI is needed—bring your curiosity and questions!

Art in the Stacks: Charlie Krone Gallery

October 1-31, 2026
Featuring Connie Clelan Betz in the Charlie Krone Gallery
In October, Connie Clelan Betz will be displaying her work in both the Charley Krone art gallery and the glass display case on the main level of the library. She works in oils, and her work focuses on flowers, birds, animals, landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, and some contemporary and modern pieces. Connie is a former member of the Perry Council of the Arts, and currently a member of the Millersburg Area Art Association.

Art in the Stacks is a monthly gallery series at the New Cumberland Public Library in partnership with the New Cumberland Collective. Each month will feature a new local artist exhibit in the library's gallery spaces.
