About 20 of these positions are professional librarians and the rest are library assistants, clerks or custodial support. Most positions are part-time. POSITION: Youth Services Assistant
SALARY RANGE: hourly $15 ($23,400) - $18 ($28,000) (commensurate with experience)
The Youth Services Assistant is an instrumental part of our Youth Services team, providing exceptional service to children, teens, and families at the Coy Public Library of Shippensburg. They plan, develop, and implement services for children and teens: programming, collection development, outreach, and assist in supervision of the Youth Services Wing. This position has the responsibility for recommending, assisting, designing, and evaluating an active youth services program and collection to meet the needs of the community in accordance with the Coy Public Library’s mission, vision, strategic plan, goals, and objectives. The Youth Services Assistant is responsible for promoting literacy, encouraging use of library materials, providing technology instruction, and assisting in the planning of future services.
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about early literacy and programming for children, with emphasis on toddlers to teens, emerging technology, and innovation. Working both independently and in a team, the Youth Services Assistant will help lead the library in creating outstanding youth services for a diverse community. This part-time, 30 hour/week position requires use of skill, initiative, independent judgment, and flexibility in schedule including some evenings and occasional Saturdays. This person will seek opportunities for professional growth and expression within a casual, but professional environment.
The New Cumberland Public Library, located in scenic southcentral Pennsylvania, is seeking a dynamic community-minded leader for the position of Library Director. Housed in the historic 1819 Benjamin House, the New Cumberland Public Library provides a variety of free library services and materials to area residents.
