The Friends of Bosler Memorial Library officially opened their used book store "The Bookery" in April 1998. A wide variety of used items can be found in The Bookery, including fiction, non-fiction, and children's books, audio books on CD, music on CD, movies on DVD, magazines dated in the last 3 months, puzzles, and games. Some new items are also sold, such as books by local authors, note cards, embroidered tote bags, and handcrafts donated by local crafters. Items are offered for sale at a reasonable cost.

We gladly accept donations of new or gently read books, newer textbooks,  magazines less than 4 months old, DVDs, music CDs, audio books on CD, jigsaw puzzles (no missing pieces, please) and games.   Donations may be made to the Bookery at the above times.

Because of COVID-19 the Bosler Library will be quarantining all donations for 3 days. For this reason all donations will be handled by library staff rather than by Bookery volunteers.

Drop Off -- up to 2 medium boxes or 8 plastic grocery bags
A patron may drop off up to 2 medium boxes or 8 plastic bags of donations at one time. These items should be brought to the Public Services Desk on the first floor of the Library.

If a patron has more material than this to donate, there are two options: break the donation down over several days or arrange a donation appointment with the library for a time when they can accept your donation.

Make an Appointment -- to donate more than the 2 medium boxes or 8 plastic bags
Contact the library's Public Services Desk in person or by phone at 717-243-4642 and arrange a mutually convenient time to drop off your donations. When you arrive at the agreed upon day/time, pull into the loading zone, and go into the library to the Public Services Desk to let them know you have arrived.

Please be aware that if you bring a large number of donations to the library without making an appointment, the library will not accept the donations.

If you would like a receipt for tax purposes for items you donate, please count the items in your donation prior to bringing the donation to The Bookery. You need to know how many items you are donating in each of the following categories: hardback books, paperback books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, games. Upon request, The Bookery will give you a receipt acknowledging your donation of the number of items you bring us in each category.

We regret that we are UNABLE to accept:

  • Damaged Books
  • Condensed Books
  • Encyclopedias older than 2000
  • Ex-Library Books

The Bookery is staffed by volunteers from the Friends of Bosler Library. If you would like to volunteer, please contact (717) 243-3313.
