Summer Learning Program

Adventure Begins at Your Library!The 2024 Summer Learning Program "Adventure Begins at Your Library!" will run from May 25th-August 15th. Check back later to see all the exciting plans for 2024! There will be free events, terrific prizes, and great stories for all ages! 

 

 

Special free events include:

May 25 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm: Summer Learning kickoff! There will be games and live music. Sign up in person (or pick up your paperwork if you pre-registered) and receive a door prize!

June 19 at 10:30 am: Meet real bloodhounds from Summit Search and Rescue!

June 26 at 10:30 am: Science Heroes "Adventure of the Lost Treasure" by Talewise.

July 10 at 10:30 am: Nature program by Kings Gap

July 24 at 10:30 am: "Big Balloon Show" by Air Weaver Balloons

Science Camp dates (choose one, and register at the library or by calling 717-776-5900): Mondays at 10:30 am. June 3, 10, 17, and 24, July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. These are one-day camps.

Tuesday mornings at 10:30 am: Storytime.

Crafts, STEM activities, and more will be held throughout the summer...check the calendar for the full schedule.

The summer program will also feature weekly prizes for meeting your reading goal, a Grand Prize drawing, and the GO Cumberland program (where you can earn chances at other prizes by going on fun hikes)!

 

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I register? You can register at the library or on Beanstack as early as May 1st.  If you register online, don't forget to pick up your bag of supplies (May 25 or later).  
  • I don't have a library card.  Can I still participate?  Yes!  Everyone is welcome.  (If you want a library card, just ask at the front desk.)
  • Can my child who doesn't read yet participate?  Yes, books that are read to a child count.
  • Do I have to keep track online?  No, you can track your reading and activities on paper or online.
  • Do magazines, e-books, and audiobooks count towards my reading goal?  Absolutely!  Any format counts.
  • Do I have to attend programs?  No, attending programs is optional.
  • How do I earn a chance in the Grand Prize Drawing? There are many ways!  You earn a chance when you sign up for the Summer Learning Program, when you attend a library event, when you check out 5 books or magazines, and when you meet your weekly reading goal!
  • Do all my Grand Prize chances have to be entered for the same prize?  No, each Grand Prize chance can be entered in the drawing for a different prize if you choose. For example, if you have two chances you can enter them both for Prize #3, or you can enter one for Prize #3 and one for Prize #1.
  • Will my reading goal be a number of books per week or a number of minutes per week?  It's your choice!  Choose either books or minutes when you select your goal at registration.
