Interested in scouting? This troop formation meeting is open to girls ages 5 through 18 and their parents. This informal gathering is an opportunity to learn about scouting and how girls can have fun while being empowered. Light refreshments and an activity will be provided. No registration required.

Join us on Fredricksen’s lawn all summer as we welcome talented performers for an evening of music and song. We will kick off summer with our annual concert with Trinidad & Tobago Baltimore Steel Orchestra as they bring a touch of the Caribbean to the library. This stunning group, named Baltimore's official steel drum band, are masters of the steel drum. Their vivacious tropical music rounds out a lively show for all ages!
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets! Our Teen Advisory Group will be selling popcorn and refreshments or feel free to bring your own. All concerts are free to the public. Concerts are held on the west lawn next to the lower parking lot. No registration necessary. Sponsored by McCormick Family Foundation.

Join us for our annual Get Outdoors Challenge for all Ages! Beginning June 1 register at fredricksen.beanstack.org, and then pick up a GO Cumberland booklet (one per family) at the library. Throughout the summer, hike the chosen parks and trails in Cumberland County to find the secret codes to enter in Beanstack! Program runs thought August 15. See booklet for more details. 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm in the Small Meeting Room
Handicap chess allows players of different experience levels to play a competitive game of chess. The more experienced player will start the game with fewer pieces. The greater the difference in experience, the greater the amount of removed pieces. Players can play regular chess if they prefer. Participants are asked to bring a chess set, if possible, but it is not required to participate. Participants who want to expand their horizons are welcome to try other games of strategy. Beginners are welcome. Feel free to drop in when you can and leave when you need to. No registration required. Ages 14+
