Learn the best styles and techniques to display your skill set and experience to potential employers. Learn about Applicant Tracking System (ATS) software that "reads" your resume and may be preventing you from hearing back from an employer. Please have a digital or hard copy of your resume available for up-to-date and targeted industry standards.
10 and 11 AM time slots, registration required--BCC Classroom
Practice your interview skills with an HR professional! This 30-45 minute session will consist of a simulated interview for a position you are interested in and an evaluation offering strategies for improvement. Dress for the part, do your research and come practice your interview skills!
Choose your time when you REGISTER. Please be sure to (1) include a brief description of or link to a job listing that you are interested in AND (2) email a resume and cover letter (and, optionally, other supporting materials if you wish for them to be considered and evaluated) to frebiz@cumberlandcountylibraries.org at the time of registration. This is MANDATORY so that our interviewer can be prepared for a meaningful simulated interview.

Join us as we honor three veterans for their service: A Staff Sergeant overseeing Air Force One and VIP air transport; a Major serving in Kuwait and Iraq and still serving in the Individual Ready Reserve; and a Naval Captain who trained in anti-submarine patrol aircraft. No registration necessary.

Join author Fred Burton in a discussion of his book, Man Made, a near-future portrayal that is eerily familiar. In his book, the AI, social media, and surveillance tools are more advanced, and the populace more dispirited, with cyborg intelligence at the forefront. We have entered an age where many of us feel there is no center and no agreed upon sources of truth. We are creeping, or lunging, towards authoritarianism. Man Made provides answers that sometimes conflict, but deserve to be discussed and challenged.

Business & Career Center (BCC) staff will be available for one-on-one assistance to create or update your resume and share general employment and career resources. This is an in-person session, choose your time when you REGISTER. In addition, we can also conduct any available (current or past) BCC workshop in a Guidance Session appointment; just choose a time to suit your schedule and let us know what workshop you are interested in.

Are you looking for a way to reduce stress and anxiety while also improving concentration? Led by experienced practitioners of meditation, we will gather in community for silent meditation. This program is for adults and no registration is necessary.
Paint Night with Local Artisan Andrea Weaver. This event will feature a painting with a Christmas/Winter theme. Registration is required and there is a $30 cost, which includes a canvas, all paint supplies, and an easel. Snacks and bottled water will be provided. Visit the library to sign up and pay to reserve your spot.
