Italian for Beginners

Thursdays, January 8 through March 12; 7:30 - 8:30 PM on Zoom

If you have always wanted to learn the Italian language and to share this passion with people who live in your area, this is a great time to do it in the comfort and safety of your home and in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Italian for Beginners classes are taught by experienced instructor Anna Maria Bertini Jones. You will be learning the basics of the Italian language through live interactive classes and group work. A variety of online multimedia resources will be used to develop basic vocabulary, conversation skills and to introduce some cultural topics like cuisine, art, lifestyle, etc. 

Classes are very easy to access. You will receive a Zoom link invitation through which you will be automatically directed to your classroom. During class time students will be learning in a fun and collaborative atmosphere, with the instructor’s help and direction. No specific technological skills are required. All you need is a computer/ laptop/tablet and a printer. Ages 16 and older. Cost: $130 for 10 classes. Students will be advised to also purchase a book online. Become a Licensed Radio Technician

Thursdays, January 29 through March 12; 6:30 - 8:30 PM in the Community Room

Bounce a radio signal off the moon. Download images from the International Space Station. Report significant weather events. Assist local emergency communications. It’s all possible with an Amateur Radio Technician License. Experienced South Mountain Radio Amateurs Club instructors teach this 7-week course and course materials are provided free of charge. Attendees who pass the FCC license exam ($35 FCC fee) will receive a handheld radio and instruction on how to use it. Attendees under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. There’s something fun for everyone in the library’s stash of board games, card games, and other tabletop games. Or you can bring a favorite from home. Meet and play with other gamers or bring friends and family for an afternoon of logic, strategy, and fun. Ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. No registration necessary.

STEAM Discovery Play - Preschool

Get ready to explore, create, learn, and experiment in our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) open discovery stations. STEM stations will be set up for self-guided activities where children can discover concepts and skills that are scientific, creative, and collaborative.
