Human Trafficking Awareness

Human Trafficking AwarenessBarbara Bingham from YWCA Greater Harrisburg will join us to discuss the serious issue of human trafficking in Pennsylvania, particularly along the busy U.S. Route 15 corridor. The YWCA created the PAATH 15 Crossroads (Pennsylvania Alliance Against Trafficking in Humans) division specifically to combat this modern-day slavery and assist its victims.

Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery that involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. Victims can be both international and domestic, and the forms of trafficking include labor and/or sex.

The YWCA offers crucial services to victims of human trafficking, including legal services, housing, and counseling. Ms. Bingham will help us understand the full impact of this situation and, most importantly, what we should do if we suspect we are witnessing someone in need of help.
