Text Messaging

ShoutBomb logoCumberland County Library System offers text messaging through our new ShoutBomb service. If you would like to receive text messages sent to your smartphone in addition to either email or voice phone notifications, you can sign up for the ShoutBomb service.

 

 

 

 

 


Changing Your Notification Preference

You can change how you receive your library notices from your account in Encore.  The available choices are email and phone.  Please make sure that your phone number and email address are current.

To change your notification preference:

  1. Click on My Account
  2. Log into your account (if necessary)
  3. Click "Edit Account"
  4. Select one of the notification methods listed at the bottom of the screen

Reading History

"Reading History" maintains a chronological list of items checked out on your library account.

Note: you must Opt into this feature before it will save any of your information. Staff does not have access to the lists that you create in your account.

  1. To begin saving your reading history, click on the Reading History tab and click "Save Reading History."

  2. You can turn off this feature at any time by clicking the "Opt Out" button.
  3. You can delete titles from your reading history by clicking the "Reading History" link and then "Delete."

Change Your PIN

  1. Click "Edit PIN"

  2. create a pin
  3. Enter your current PIN.
  4. Enter your new PIN
  5. Confirm it by entering it again.
  6. Click "Submit"

Create Your Own Username

You have the option of creating a username which you can use instead of your library card number to log in to many Cumberland County Library System Services!

Usernames work with the following services:

  • Your Library Account
  • Self-Checkout Stations
  • Public Internet Sign-Up Stations
  • Public Internet Computers
  • SmartPay Online Fine Payment

Usernames work with the following databases:

  • MyHeritage
  • Novelist Plus

Create a Username

1. Click on My Account in the top right of the screen.

2. Log in to your account using your library card barcode and PIN.

3. Click on My Account in the upper right corner of the screen.

4. Click on Edit Account.

5. Enter a username and click submit.

Username requirements:

  • Contains letters and/or numbers (special characters are invalid).
  • Is between 6 and 25 characters in length.

Modify Patron Information

You can now log in to your library account using your username and PIN!

If you ever forget your username, you can still log in to your account with your library card barcode and PIN. Once logged in, you can view your username. To change your username, simply delete your current username, type in a new one, and then click submit.

Edit Personal Information In Your Library Account

Use the Edit Account feature to change your email address, telephone number, contact preference.

Note: You cannot change your address through Encore.  To update your address, please visit your Library.

1. Click "Edit Account."

2.  Update your contact information.  Scroll down and click Submit.

Renewing Items

You can renew items from your account. Log in to your account. You will see items that have already been renewed and any fees that have accrued. These items can also be sorted by due date.

To renew an item(s)

  1. Click the box to the left of the title of the item you wish to renew.
  2. Click the "Renew Marked" or "Renew All" buttons to renew your items.

  3. A message will appear asking if you want to proceed with your renwal.  Select Yes or No. items will be renewed
  4. You will see the date the item is now due and the number of times the item can be renewed. Most items can be renewed 5 times as long as none else is requesting them.

 


Fines and Fees

From the fines tab, you can view all of the fines and fees associated with your account.

All overdue fines will list the date the item was checked out, the date the item is due, and the date you returned the item to the library (the date the item was checked in).


Holds

You can change the pickup location before a hold is filled and/or cancel a request. You can also freeze and unfreeze holds. This applies to both physical items and for eBooks and eAudiobooks.

NOTE: Items will remain frozen until you uncheck the box.  After a year has passed, the hold will expire.

My Account

Your Encore account allows you to have more control over your library experience. 

After logging in to your account, you will see your name below the Search box. You will also see your Home Library and your Email address:
