Through the Digital Connectivity Technology Program (DCTP) from the Pennsylvania Broadband
Development Authority (PBDA), the Cumberland County Library System (CCLS) has obtained 28 laptops for in-library loaning. We highly recommend borrowing these laptops for education, digital skill development, healthcare purposes, and workforce development.
PBDA has partnered with Metrix Learning to help residents brush up on skills to prepare for better employment opportunities. This SkillUp PA™ initiative is provided at no cost to you. Course topics include computers, internet, Microsoft Office, management, leadership, customer service, math, finance, and more! Metrix Learning is flexible to match your skill level and learning pace. It is conveniently accessible 24/7 from any location with high-speed internet access, including from an icon on our library laptops.
To borrow a laptop, visit any CCLS library. Bring your library card or obtain a free library card on site, and ask to check out a laptop at the service desk. If one is available, it will be provided.
- Bringing your own headphones is encouraged.
- If you plan to work on or save documents, you will need a cloud-based account or your own USB drive.
- Laptops are first-come first-served with no daily time limit. If no laptops are available, the library also has desktop computers for public use.
- Children 16 years of age or younger must have internet access permission activated on their library card account in order to borrow a laptop.

An email address is required; your assigned user name and password will be sent to the email address you provide.
