“The oak fought the wind and was broken,
the willow bent when it must and survived.”

In the midst of what can only be called truly unique times, I hope you’re staying safe and well. As COVID-19 continues to spread, the future still feels a bit unpredictable. As always, the Fredricksen Library and the East Pennsboro Branch are doing everything possible to sustain daily operations and provide outstanding services to the community. While there’s a lot of uncertainty, the libraries are taking action to adapt to a continually changing reality.
Now, more than ever, our community needs us. And we need you.
The Fredricksen Library and East Pennsboro Branch prides themselves on being community hubs, providing free and open access to information, technology and ideas. While COVID-19 stopped all in-person activity for libraries across the country, the libraries took to action so patrons could continue to learn, grow, and socialize with each other safely.
Children’s and Teen Programming staff created online programs for kids of all ages to digitally attend. Programs include Storytime’s, STEM experiments at home, and craft projects.
Adult Programming staff created a “Stay Curious” webpage on the library’s site which includes a multitude of online resources and interesting links for our patrons. The Business & Career Center team also created a webpage for employment and small business resources. Our social media sites were active with daily postings to keep followers engaged.
The Fredricksen Library boosted its online book collection on OverDrive, adding hundreds of best-selling titles for our patrons to enjoy on their e-readers from the comfort of their own home. Many children’s electronic books have also been added!
Library services are needed by families seeking free educational and entertainment resources, individuals seeking access to free internet, books, newspapers and magazines, job hunters seeking information, and those who simply enjoy both the programs and the peaceful atmosphere at the library. See the reverse side for more details on all the happenings at your libraries.
Please make a gift today so we can continue to serve all who need us both now and in the future.
Your generous donation at this critical time will ensure that the community needs continue to be met.
