Ruth's Garden Dedication Ceremony

Ruth’s Garden Dedication Ceremony

Ruth Greiner, former staff member, founder of the Mystery Discussion Group for the New Cumberland Public Library, and garden devotee, will be memorialized with a dedication of Ruth’s Garden on Sunday, June 1, at 3:00 PM in the garden located at the Sharon Street entrance to the library building.

Ruth passed away in late December 2012 from an aggressive form of leukemia.  Since then her group of dedicated mystery readers memorialized her by renaming the group, Ruth’s Mystery Discussion Group.  To further honor her memory, a parcel of the library grounds was allocated to plant her prized vintage irises which she transported from her former California home to Camp Hill in 1999.

Penn-Cumberland Garden Club members developed a blue print for the garden and also physically planted most of garden elements.  The dedication will be a rather brief and informal event to reveal a garden plaque and for friends to share their memories and also enjoy light refreshments that will be available in Foundation Hall located across from Ruth’s Garden.
