Volunteer at Your Library


The Cumberland County Library System welcomes skilled volunteers. Volunteers can help with many things. Some volunteer jobs include:


  • Helping with special events or projects
  • Taking books to nursing homes or shut-ins
  • Cleaning and mending materials
  • Opening boxes of new materials
  • Putting jackets, labels and stickers on new materials

Located in downtown Carlisle, Bosler Memorial Library has a number of volunteer opportunities. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. We place volunteers in the following areas, depending on your interests and availability. You can view a complete job description for each volunteer opportunity by clicking on the volunteer position.

Caring Cumberland County outreach volunteers are needed to select and deliver library materials monthly to homebound seniors or disabled individuals.


Orientation, training, and support are provided by the Adult Outreach Services Coordinator.

Volunteers are an essential part of the Simpson Library team and we welcome skilled volunteers. Volunteers help with shelving library materials, book processing, special events, and mending library materials.


Volunteer training is provided and a mutually convenient schedule can be arranged. You must be at least 13 years old to volunteer. Recent changes to Pennsylvania law make background checks mandatory for all volunteers 18 and older.
