This program will help prepare your child for one of their biggest milestones: kindergarten! Reading aloud to your child is one of the best ways to prepare them for kindergarten.  With 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, parents are challenged to read to their children to get them ready to read.

It is foundational knowledge that all students need, but is often overlooked.  We need to improve access for all students—and that’s where The Coding Club @ Fredricksen Library can help. Coding Club will help develop important digital literacy skills all while having fun. For ages 12 -18. Register online here starting February 4.

East Pennsboro School District (West Creek Hills and East Pennsboro Elementary) - First Session: September 10

West Shore School District (Washington Heights, Lower Allen and Highland Elementary) - First Session: September 17th

Cumberland Valley School District (Shaull, Hampden, and Sporting Hill) - First Session: September 24th

Sessions run one hour.

5:00 pm - 6:30 pm in the Kunkel Creation Station, Lower Level

Come to the Kunkel Creation Station and learn all about putting an idea on paper, turning it into a 3D model using TinkerCAD, and then bring it to life with our Robo C2 3D printer! For ages 9 – 12. Registration is required and begins March 26 (for 4/9) and April 9 (for 4/23).

Join a design team to plan, create, and test a bungee jump for Barbie--make sure she doesn't touch the ground! For girls* ages 8 – 12. Registration begins May 2.

 

*Why is this STEM program only offered for girls? There is a massive gender imbalance that persists in STEM-related fields, and it's important that we give girls a chance to learn and thrive in a supporting environment. The Girls in STEM program series @ the Kunkel Creation Station hopes to inspire girls to development and maintain an interest in STEM-related topics and future career fields.

Specially trained dogs from K-PETs will be at the library to listen to children read aloud. This program is helpful to children who may be shy or reluctant to read aloud.  For readers 12 and under with registration starting two weeks prior.
