Program Specialist - Part Time

East Pennsboro Branch Library in Enola, PA, is seeking a part-time Program Specialist to plan and present programs for all ages, including story times. Must have knowledge of local resources to develop programming connections and must be willing to reach out to groups and organizations to make new connections.

 

Pay rate: $9.68 /hour

 

Start Date : July 22nd

 

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, presents and evaluates programs keeping the goals of the library and the community’s interests as the focus
  • Coordinates promotional materials with the supervisor
  • Reads professional literature
  • Attends staff, county and other professional meetings. Participates in and strengthens library and branch teams. Complies with continuing education requirements
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the supervisor’s discretion

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, work independently and make decisions based on good business practices and library philosophy
  • Ability to develop and present programs
  • Knowledge of local resources to develop programming connections
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

Requirements:

  • College degree preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience in marketing or related fields
  • Previous nonprofit experience preferred

Hours:

10 hours per week

Hours will vary depending on program needs but will primarily consist of weekdays and some weekends. Note: this is a year-round position.

Reference Services Assistant - Part Time

Position Summary

Cleve J. Fredricksen Library in Camp Hill is seeking an individual dedicated to create a positive experience for each library customer. Reference Services Assistant will actively assist customers with locating materials provide instruction of print and non-print resources, assist customers with library equipment and assist customers in finding answers to their questions.

The candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, knowledge of basic computer functions and software and the ability to demonstrate tact and professionalism in communications.



$9.68 per hour EOE.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Creates positive experiences for library customers by effectively and efficiently performing job tasks
  • Demonstrates superior public service skills, and an understanding of public library operations. Supports “customer first” practices.
  • Proactively seeks to assist customers with finding items. Circulates the library floor regularly while performing other work duties to actively assist customers.
  • Proficiently performs reference tasks including but not limited to: opening and closing procedures, provides basic instruction of print and non-print resources; provides basic circulation functions, collects fees; evaluates donations of materials; assists customers with library equipment.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the supervisor’s discretion

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must possess excellent customer service skills; Requires the ability to handle customer complaints, difficult situations, and the challenges presented by customers
  • Knowledge of computer functions and software; Must be able to learn and become skilled with library equipment, technology and software as required to effectively and efficiently perform essential functions
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and professionalism in all communication

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with some library science preferred
  • Experience in a public library setting preferred

Hours:

Friday - 1pm to 5pm and every other weekend 12.30pm - 5pm

Ability to substitute preferred
