About the Simpson Library
The renovated stone grain warehouse has found a new life as the Joseph T. Simpson Public Library. Three floors of books, DVDs, music and other library services are available for free for area residents. The first floor of the library is home to the expansive DVD collection, audio books, new books, reference materials, nonfiction books, and more. The Children’s area fills the large lower floor with books, toys and spaces for families to share the love of reading. The storytime room is always a busy place, as kids await an exciting and fun tale. On the second floor you’ll find quiet reading areas and the extensive collection of adult and teen fiction and popular reading materials.
Modern technology blends with the old at the library. Although the building dates to the 1840s, it has free Wi-Fi throughout and there are 10 computers with high-speed Internet access, one configured specifically for word processing, and a photocopier.
Each week, the library offers special activities for children, teens and adults. Throughout the year, the Friends of the Library sponsor special events for adults and families. We invite you to come and see us at the Joseph T. Simpson Public Library and also to visit us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
If you visit the library, you will step inside a historic grain warehouse built in the 1840’s and renovated in 1995 to house the public library in Mechanicsburg, PA. The mission of the library is to provide and ensure access to books, information, services and materials to meet the personal, professional, evolving and lifelong learning needs of all citizens in our community.
