Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage month started out as a week in 1978. May was chosen because it commemorates the immigration of the first Japanese people to the United States, as well as Golden Spike Day (May 10, 1869), which marked the completion of the transcontinental railroad, largely built by Chinese laborers. Search the library catalog to learn more!
