What is Wear Red Day?
Part of their Go Red for Women initiative, National Wear Red Day was begun by the American Heart Association to “increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally.” Wear red on February 5th to help them raise awareness of cardiovascular disease in women – one of the greatest threats to a woman’s health.
According to the AHA website, cardiovascular diseases (which include strokes) “claim the life of a woman about every 80 seconds. But about 80 percent of cardiovascular diseases may be prevented.”
