2022 Summer Reading Challenge for Everyone!
Read along with the Library during the 2022 Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Challenge
Programs are available for all ages: children, teens, and adults
Read or be read to: no one is too old or young to participate!
Get Started
To get started, register online using our reading tracking software, Beanstack, at newcumberlandlibrary.beanstack.org. If you've participated in summer reading in the past, you likely have an existing Beanstack account. Log in and update your readers' information. New to summer at the Library? Create an account - only one is needed - and register each reader in your family. If you need assistance with Beanstack, please call the children's desk at 717-774-7822.
You can also download the Beanstack Tracker app (available for iOS and Android; search "Beanstack Tracker") and sign into your Beanstack account for easy tracking on your phone.
GO Cumberland!
Let’s get outdoors this summer! Join us for Cumberland County’s first ever GO Cumberland challenge for all ages. This program encourages Cumberland County children and families to read and be physically active by completing hikes where you search for wooden marker posts that are hidden in various local and state parks. Registration for the challenge is on Beanstack, our reading tracking software. After registering, stop by the Library to pick up your 2022 Wayfinder Guide (one per family) and rubbing sheets for children (one per child please) while supplies last. Throughout the summer, get out and go hiking and walking in local and state parks. Enter the secret codes you discover to earn points and be entered to win prizes. See booklet for more details or visit gocumberland.org beginning June 1 for full details. Sponsored by Wellspan and Cumberland County Library System.
Children's Summer Challenges
- This summer, families with children will have a choice of two different reading challenges: our Badge Book challenge best for school-aged kids which comes with a handheld tracking book (while supplies last) or our summer themed Oceans of Possibilities challenge (online only).
- Track your reading and activities all summer long to enter weekly prize drawings and earn the chance to win one of our grand prizes in August, plus a free book upon completion.
- Additionally, participate in our GO Cumberland! Challenge for the whole family by getting outside and visiting local parks in Cumberland County. This challenge also comes with a tracking book (while supplies last) and the chance to win prizes!
