Carlisle Connections

Carlisle Indian School ConnectionsDoors Open at 6:00 p.m.
No registration required
Barbara Landis, a public historian and Carlisle Indian Industrial School biographer, will present a program about Indian Schools  at the New Cumberland Public Library Foundation House. She will share some of the highlights of her experiences traveling with a team from Dickinson College to Native American communities over the past five years.

Ms. Landis has also worked with individuals and nations to develop the biographical and research web pages. She urges those who study the Carlisle Indian Industrial School to recognize the complex response from descendants of school students. As a consequence of her work, Landis makes it a point to respectfully honor those students and their descendants who lived the experiment, to celebrate with those who prospered from it, and to grieve with those whose lives were diminished by it. This program is sponsored by AAUW Harrisburg Branch and AAUW Carlisle Branch and masks are required for all attendees, regardless of vaccination status.
