Every year, the Christmas season brings the glorious sound of George Frideric Handel’s Messiah ringing out across America.  This lively program takes a look behind Handel’s popular oratorio to explore the composer, his music, and the world in which he lived.  Handel has been called “the Andrew Lloyd Webber of his day” – a prolific genius, a successful impresario, a generous philanthropist, and a lion of London society.  Through this program you’ll learn the fascinating story of Handel’s life… enjoy hearing excerpts from his most famous works… and gain a greater understanding of a true icon of Western culture.
