Mandarin Chinese for Beginners

Fredricksen Library is excited to offer a new series of paid classes to learn to speak Mandarin. Designed for learners who have had little or no previous exposure to Mandarin, the fun and relaxed environment will focus mostly on speaking, but you will also learn to recognize and write some basic characters. The course is divided into sessions of 10 classes. The instructor, Alicia Sigmon has a B.A. in Linguistics, with a minor in Chinese from the University of Pittsburgh. She lived in Fuzhou, Fujian in China where she taught English as a foreign language for 3 years. Now she lives in Mechanicsburg and wants to share her passion for language with you! Ages 16 and older. Cost: $100 for 10 classes and Alicia recommends purchasing a $15 book – details TBA. Registration begins December 1 online, by phone or in person at the library.
