Dear Patron,

What an exciting year!  Fredricksen Library was voted Simply the Best Library 2018. This is the twelfth time the Library has won that honor.  From there, we went on:

  • Fredricksen launched the first Makerspace in this region in a public library. The Makerspace, or Kunkel Creation Station, opened in June, to host STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities.
  • The Daytime Academy now boasts eight active Language at the Library conversation groups, one actual Italian classroom, and numerous offerings to support lifelong learning.
  • Remodeling plans are underway to enhance access for those with mobility issues and families with strollers.
  • A Business & Career Center is in the plans.
  • A beautiful Reading Plaza will coincide with the start of spring outside.
  • Board members and staff are accomplishing key steps in the 2018-2021 Strategic Plan.

Fredricksen Library changes lives daily in profound and positive ways.   The Library provides opportunities, resources, programs, contacts, and experiences to 82,000 individuals in the service area. Fredricksen, the busiest library in Cumberland County, is free to the public, but not free to operate. It is the only library in the County with a Branch, actively serving the needs of East Pennsboro Township.  Together, Fredricksen and the Branch circulate almost 1 million materials a year. The Library receives some money through the County Library tax, and some from the State but, like other libraries, is heavily dependent upon individual donations.

What does your donation make possible for Fredricksen? If you donate:

$1,000 – You are funding two months of Wi-Fi connectivity for use on all devices, including our free computers.

$500 – You are funding a single concert on our lawn, or a program in the atrium

$100 – You are funding: five new books for the adult collection OR materials for two STEM Programs

$50 – You are funding: three hours of device-help at the Reference Desk OR three children’s picture books added to the Pollock Children’s Library collection

Every single dollar makes a difference. Please consider giving generously to operate the library you’ve come to love. Thank you for being a part of the Fredricksen Library and East Pennsboro Branch family!

Sincerely,

Kathryn T. Bard, Board President
