Summer Storytine Schedule (June 1 through August 31)

 

 

Wednesday, May 29 @ 5:30 pm - Family Storytime - Theme: Spaceships - Come visit the library in your pajamas and listen to soaring stories of space, sing songs and dance. Parachute fun an free play included. Bring the whole family. No registration required

 

 

Saturday, June 1 from 11 am to 1 pm - Summer Learning Program Kick-Off Party - Children can stop by to pick up your summer reading log and enjoy fun, food and crafts. Concert by Silly Joe Sings begins at 11:30 am.

2019 SUMMER LEARNING PROGRAM - A UNIVERSE OF STORIES
This program provides two ways to encourage children to keep reading and learning over the summer.
  • Reading Incentive Program - Children keep track of their reading, program participation and challenges. At the closing party on Saturday, July 27, children shop for prizes at our summer learning store. Those who submit their reading logs will be entered to win a raffle prize. 
  • Entertaining educational programs every Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. No registration is needed to attend these programs. No registration is needed to attend any of the awesome programs that run every Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning through June and July.  The more programs you attend, the more badges you earn on your reading log!

Registration begins May 20. After registering online, there are three ways to track your reading - using our classic paper log (available at Amelia Givin Library), online at ameliagivinlibrary.beasnstack. org, or using the free Beanstack Tracker app (ios or android) on your phone or tablet. You can use one, two or a combination of all three ways to track your progress. 

 

Monday, June 3 @ 1:45 pm - Start Your Week With Space SPACE CAMP -  Join us for five Monday afternoon science lessons streamed directly from NASA, followed by hands-on experiments. Must be entering grades 3-6. Registration is required and includes all five sessions scheduled for June 3,  June 10, June 17, June 24 and July 1.

 

Tuesday, June 4 @6:30 pm - Jack Hubley presents Critters Beyond Your Back Door - Jack Hubley will bring native, live animals that are quite common beyond your back door and very important to the ecology of our area. For more than 30 years, Jack Hubley has been a nature advocate and has hosted several TV nature programs. He currently runs the falconry program at the Hotel Hershey. No registration is required.

Wednesday, June 5 @ 10 am and 11:30 am - Brian Richards presents 3...2...1...Blast Off Into Books! - Brian Richards and Cosmo, the alien puppet, will perform a show filled with magic, comedy, storytelling and audience participation. They will get kids excited about reading at the library. The two programs are identical. Please choose one to attend. No registration is needed.

Monday, June 10 @ 6 pm - Ready, Set GO! - Kindergarten Readiness - Is your child starting kindergarten this fall? From May through August, come once a month to do fun activities that will help prepare your child for kindergarten. An adult helper must attend with the child. Registration is required and limited to 20 participants. We encourage you to attend all program dates, if possible. They are:

  • Monday, July 15 from 6 - 7 pm

  • Monday, August 12 from 6 - 7 pm

 

 

Tuesday, June 11 @ 6:30 pm - Musician Steven Courtney - This award-winning singer songwriter delivers a fun, upbeat, outdoor concert that celebrates diversity, responsibility, and making good choices as well as kindness and sharing. Bring a blanket or chair as this will be outside on our lawn, weather permitting. No registration is needed.
