Here's what you need to know about visiting the Amelia Givin Library during the COVID-19 pandemic.
AMELIA GIVIN LIBRARY HOURS
Monday through Thursday 10 am - 7 pm
Friday 10 am - 6 pm
Saturday 10 am - 3 pm
FACE MASKS & SOCIAL DISTANCING.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, face masks must be worn while inside the library (including for children ages 2 and older). Those who are not willing or able to wear a face mask for any reason including medical issues, may use our curbside pickup service or online resources. Please maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from others while visiting the library. Please also make use of the hand sanitizer provided in the library.
60-MINUTE TIME LIMIT
Please limit your library visits to less than one hour. Computer time is also limited to 60 minutes. If the library becomes too crowded, staff may be required to ask patrons to leave before 60 minutes. Staff will not be able to assist with computer issues and questions due to social distancing requirements.
You may return items two ways.
1) Inside the library. You are welcome to come in the library during regular hours and place items you are returning into the "returns" book cart located beside the front desk.
2) Outside book return bin. You may return library items to the new return box located next to the rear parking lot at any time - 24/7. ALL library items, including DVDs and video games may be placed in the bin. The bin is emptied by staff periodically throughout the day.
Amelia Givin Library continues to provide curbside holds pickup for those who do not feel comfortable entering the library to pick up their reserved items.
STEP 1: Place your holds online using the library catalog or call Amelia Givin Library at (717) 486-3688.
STEP 2: We will send you a notice by email or phone (like we always have) when your holds are ready to be picked up.
STEP 3: When you arrive at the library (either at the curb on Church Street near the library side entrance or in the rear parking lot), call the library at (717) 486-3688 from your vehicle. We will package your items in a plastic bag and bring them to you. Staff are not permitted to hand the plastic bag to you, so you will need to get out of your car to retrieve the plastic bag. Note regarding returned items*: Staff are not permitted to accept returned items directly from patrons. Please place your returned library items in the book return bin located at the edge of the rear parking lot.
* All returned items are quarantined for 3 days before being checked in and reshelved. Items will remain on your account during this time, but will NOT accrue fines.
STEP 4: Enjoy your items!
PLEASE NOTE: Fines and fees cannot be paid at curbside pickup.
NOT FEELING WELL?
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, please do not visit the library if you are sick, or recently had a fever, cough or shortness of breath.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
