Amelia Givin Library April Reading Challenge
April 1 - April 30 (submit your entry form at the front desk by 8 pm Thursday, April 30, 2026)
To complete the challenge, finish at least ONE book challenge option by April 30th.
Cast your line into April’s reading challenge – it’s time to see what great books you can reel in! This month we’re fishing for fun with two ways to play: Go Fish! or Catch & Release. Whether you hook a keeper or just enjoy the thrill of the cast,
there’s plenty of reading waiting beneath the surface at Amelia Givin Library. Each of the 2 book challenge options has a corresponding button. Finish both challenges and receive both buttons! The Go FISH! and the Catch & Release book challenges are for adults and 6th graders & up.
To complete the challenge, finish at least ONE book challenge option by April 30th:
OPTION #1: GO FISH!
Did you know that in the card game, Go FISH!, four cards of the same number make a BOOK? Well, this challenge is even easier than finding 4 cards! Read ONE book from any of these F-I-S-H categories to complete this challenge:
F = a mystery or fantasy with a fish/fishing story element
I = an autobiography or a book written in the first person
S = a book about a spring-related topic or one set in a spring timeframe
H = a book by an author with a first OR last name beginning with the letter “H”
OPTION #2: CATCH & RELEASE
Stop by the Amelia Givin Library and let the staff at the circulation desk know that you are there to CATCH some good books. The staff member will help you check out a bag of 3 books (no peeking!), each from a different genre. Once you have your bag, find a nice spot to pause in the library or take your books home – the choice is yours! Next, take a good look and
admire your books – check out the cover art, repeat the title to yourself a few times, read the description on the back cover, and flip through the pages – check out the size of those scales (aka, the font size). Finally, decide which book you want to devour (read) and RELEASE the other books at the library (return them to the book drop).
Please note – there are 20 bags available and when they are gone, they’re gone!
BONUS: Receive an additional challenge entry (for a total of three possible challenge entries) if the book you read has the color blue and/or water anywhere on the cover.
Drop off your completed reading challenge entry form at the front desk anytime after April 15th and no later than Thursday, April 30th to be entered to win 1 of 2 prizes AND pick up your April reading challenge button(s).
Happy reading!
