This year’s One Book, One Community regional campaign represents collaboration between 40 libraries in four counties: Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry and York and their community partners. Many individual libraries participate in surrounding Central PA counties.
The public was asked to help choose a book during the month of August 2019, and the winner is Heartland: a Memoir of working Hard and Being Broke In the Richest Country on Earth by Sarah Smarsh. Everyone is encouraged to read and discuss the book in February 2020 – Library Lovers’ Month. Cumberland County libraries have multiple copies of the book in regular and large print, the book on CD, and eBook and eAudiobook copies on OverDrive. There is even a reading discussion guide on OverDrive. A reading group guide and related materials will be listed on the official website for One Book, One Community: Our Region Reads along with additional regional information as it becomes available.
