Drop-In Story Time  
Thursday, May 23 at 7 pm
Drop-in story time with stories, flannel boards, songs and finger plays provides a fun experience at the library. For ages 3 years and up with no registration necessary.

Story Time with the Girl Scouts
Saturdays, May 4 and May 18 at 2:00 pm

Girl Scouts will present a story time for children ages 3-5, with stories including Harry the Dirty Dog, I Took My Frog to the Library and Ten Little Fairies . The readings will be followed by a craft. Registration is required and begins on April 20.

Library for Lunch – Dirt Pudding!
Monday, May 13 and Thursday, May 16 at noon
Children ages 3 - 6 will make "dirt" out of chocolate pudding. They will get to hear some stories about planting seeds. Participants should bring their lunches. Drink and chocolate pudding for dessert will be provided. Cost is $1 per person. Registration is required and begins on April 29. Sponsored by Property Management, Inc.

READ to Dogs
Thursday, May 16 from 6:30 to 7:45 pm

Specially trained dogs will be at the library to listen to children read aloud. This program is helpful to children who may be shy or reluctant to read aloud. For readers to age 12 with registration starting May 2.

Children’s Bingo Night
Friday, May 17 from 7 to 8 pm

Great family entertainment for a Friday night. All ages welcome – with children’s books as prizes! Tickets are required and are available beginning May 3. Tickets are free.

Summer Reading Club 2013 – DIG INTO READING!
June 3 through August 3
This year’s Summer Reading Club: Dig into Reading! is packed with exciting performers and programs! This 9 week program will feature reading activities, with programs for children preschool age through 6th grade. Magic, Science, Art workshops, Zoo America, Movies, Crafts and many other wonderful events are planned, with a family picnic rounding out the fun. Register online starting June 3. All programs sponsored by Friends of Fredricksen & Friends of East Pennsboro Branch, Enola Sportsmans Association and a memorial donation in honor of volunteer Ashley Dietrich.

Youth Chess Night
Friday, June 7 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Experts from the Harrisburg Chess Club will be on hand to assist young chess players and match up competitors with equal skill level. Ages 7-13. Participants are asked to bring a chess set if possible but not required. No registration required.

Summer Story Times – I Dig Gardening!
Monday, June 10 at 9:30 and 10:30 am
Join us as we sing songs and read stories with pages projected on the big screen! 9:30 am - for children under 3. 10:30 am - for children ages 3 to 6. No registration required.

ZooAmerica @ Fredricksen!
Tuesday, June 11 at 10:30 am
ZooAmerica returns to Fredricksen with some friends who live in cavities - a gopher snake, a desert tortoise, a tarantula, barred owl and porcupine! All ages welcome. No registration necessary. www.zooamerica.com

Dig into Cave Painting
Wednesday, June 12 at 10:30 am
Help us create cave paintings to decorate the library for Summer Reading Club! Learn about the history of cave paintings and give it a try! For students entering grades 4 – 6, with registration required starting June 3. $2 fee per child must be paid 2 days before program.

Dig into Pizza
Thursday, June 13 at 10:30 am
Plant the things you can use later on to make a pizza and enjoy a pizza snack! For students entering grades 1 - 3, with registration required starting June 3. $2.00 fee per child must be paid 2 days before program.

Family Movie Night: Call for title 
Friday, June 14 at 6:30 pm
We will be showing a G or PG rated movie and free popcorn will be served. All ages welcome and all children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration necessary.

Using the music and humorous lyrics of talented New York Playwright Cy Young, Aesop and his merry band of characters provide a timeless tale designed to teach as well as tickle the funny bones of all ages. Children participate in every tale in this entertaining, interactive program! All ages welcome. No registration necessary.

Let’s Pretend We Are Nomads with the UPenn Museum
Wednesday, June 19 at 10:30 am
Ann Guinan from the University of Pennsylvania Museum presents a program about nomads. For students entering grades 4 – 6, with registration required starting June 5. $2 fee per child must be paid 2 days before program. The Outreach Lecture Program is funded by the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.

Dig into Dinos!
Thursday, June 20 at 10:30 am
Fun with dinosaur facts, activities, and a craft! For students entering grades 1 - 3, with registration required starting June 6. $2.00 fee per child must be paid 2 days before program.

Science with John Hadfield!

A visually unique presentation of science - utilizing the skills of juggling, comedy, balancing, magic, and music. Wacky and educational - from a rap song about accidental inventions to a hair-raising experiment with electricity. The Science Show proves that science can be found at school, on the playground, at home, in your car - it's everywhere! Don’t miss this international performer’s return to Fredricksen! All ages welcome. No registration necessary. Sponsored by the Cumberland County Library System.

CSI Egypt with the UPenn Museum
Wednesday, June 26 at 10:30 am
Stephen Phillips from the University of Pennsylvania Museum presents CSI Egypt! For students entering grades 4 – 6, with registration required starting June 12. $2 fee per child must be paid 2 days before program. NEW Early Literacy Station added!
Made possible with a donation by Dan Searfoorce in memory of his mother
Maryann D. Searfoorce, the Early Literacy Station is a user friendly system loaded with 50 educational software titles for kids ages 2 - 10.  This standalone computer is not connected to the internet and is age appropriate, engaging and designed to attract and educate toddlers through early elementary school grades.  The software covers seven areas: reading, math, science, social studies, writing, arts and music, and reference.  Some of the titles include: Dora's World Adventure, Kid Works Deluxe, Millie's Math House, Math Doodles, Photo Kit Jr., Sesame Street, Stationary Studio, World of Goo and more.  Stop by and try the ELS near the Children's Information desk.
