Join us on the upper level tutor room as we discuss The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs, a charming tale soon to be a movie starring who else but Julia Roberts. USA today calls it Steel Magnolias set in Manhattan.
Georgia Walker has a busy life. Between raising her daughter, running her yarn shop and dealing with an ex who is eager to get back into her life, she finds solace and friendship when she starts a knitting club in her store. It’s a diverse group, who bond as they knit and share their own tales of intimacy, heartbreak, and miracle making. And when the unthinkable happens, these women will discover that what they've created isn't just a knitting club: it's a sisterhood

Mystery Movie Weekend
Mystery Movie Sunday
Held on the fourth Sunday of the month, September thru May.  The Mystery Movie Weekend will be discontinued in June, July and August since the Library is closed Sundays during these months.  We will be starting again Sunday, September 26.

Sunday, September 26, 2:00 pm
We start our Mystery Movie Sundays with an Alfred Hitchcock favorite starring Teresa Wright and Joseph Cotton. Inspired by an actual case of a 1920's serial killer known as "The Merry Widow Murderer," the movie sets a tone of menace and fear by introducing a psychotic killer into the small-town comforts of Santa Rosa, California.
Sunday, October 24, 2:00 pm
The movie this month is a delicious hybrid of '40s romantic comedy and Agatha Christie mystery. A glamorous Deanna Durbin witnesses a murder, gets mixed up with the dead man's wacky family, and croons Cole Porter's "Night and Day" with throbbing allure.

Everyone knows about the Battle of Gettysburg, but did you know that Mechanicsburg was captured during the Civil War? For insight into the lesser known Battle of Sporting Hill, come to the Library and meet local author and raconteur Michael Weaver. He will talk about this little known invasion of Mechanicsburg. Michael is the author of Jenkins in Mechanicsburg, a fictionalized account of the battle and also Pennsylvania Civil War Snippets for Curious Minds, chosen by the homeschoolers group to present Civil War history in a novel way. The author has been interested in Civil War history for many years. He has been a reenactor and is also the President of the Shiremanstown Historical Society.
