Librarian and Child Keeping Your Child Safe in Cyberspace

Children and teens can have many positive experiences using the Internet, cell phones and other high tech gadgets -- but parents need to be involved.

Listed below are some ideas to help keep your child safe in Cyberspace.
Suggested Cyperspace Guidelines
  1. Become familiar with the risks associated with Internet use. Several helpful places to start are:
  2. Establish rules for Internet use and go with your child each time they visit the library to use the Internet.
  3. Understand how Internet filtering at your library works. 
  4. Help your child learn how to critically evaluate information on the Internet.
  5. Consider whether or not blocking your child’s library card from Internet access would help you supervise your child at the library.
