View a bee colony at Messiah College on Wednesday, June 21, at 5:30 pm.
We will meet at Simpson Library and then you will drive your own car to Messiah.
Did you know bee colonies are diminishing? Bees are critical in the production of our local gardens as well as major food crops. Individuals are becoming more and more critical in the sustaining of bee colonies. Join us as we make a visit to the working bee colony at Messiah College. We will be guided by Brandon Hoover who will talk about the benefits of beekeeping, bee and hive biology, basic equipment – including hive, protective equipment, tools, etc. , and getting started with honey bees. Please wear long-sleeve shirts, long pants, and closed toed shoes. Protective equipment will be provided, but patrons assume all risks associated with beekeeping. Meet at Simpson Library at 5:30 – directions will be provided.
The program is free, but registration is required! Interested parties can register in person, by calling the library at 766-0171, or emailing the library at firstname.lastname@example.org.
