1. Does the library filter the Internet?

To comply with federal laws, the library system filters all computers, even if your child is accompanied by a parent or guardian.

If a site is inappropriately blocked, please ask a librarian for help.

Also, if you are age 17 or older, you may ask that filtering be turned off when you have bona fide research or have other lawful purposes.

2. Do Internet filters work?

Filters aren't foolproof.

Filters can give you a false sense of security that you are protected from harmful material.

Filters can also block sites that may be considered inoffensive or useful.
