Bee Local @ Fredricksen - Thank you to 1000+ attendees!

Bee Local @ Fredricksen was the Library’s first annual honey and local foods festival. Held in September, National Honeybee Month, the Library raised awareness of the importance of bees to our community and environment, the benefits of beekeeping and backyard gardening, and the critical role both play in our local agriculture and food industries. Featuring an onsite Farmers' Market, programs, children's activities and informational booths, Bee Local was a smashing success with 25 farmers' market vendors and informational booths and over 1,000 members of the public attending!   Read more about the event, vendors & presenters.

Something new at Fredricksen Library!
We now have a sign-up station at Fredricksen Library for our internet computers!
Brianna Crum, Reference Services Manager
Signing up at this station guarantees you a computer on a first come, first served basis. Once you have entered your library barcode number and PIN into the sign-up screen, you are automatically placed into the queue of patrons waiting for a computer. Once a computer becomes available for you, you’ll have 10 minutes to locate that computer, and begin your internet session. During this 10 minute window, no one else will be able to sign on to the computer designated for you. If you’d like a second hour, you will need to reserve your spot at the sign-up computer; if there is no one waiting ahead of you, you’ll immediately be assigned a computer.
We hope this change will make the process of accessing the library’s internet computers more fair in providing you with access to the internet. As always, if you have questions or comments, please visit the reference desk, or call 717-761-3900 ext. 225.

Fredricksen Reads - Civil War Series
For Cause and Comrades by James McPherson
Thursday, October 27 at 7 pm

Become a part of Fredricksen Reads book discussions as we read a series of three books focusing on the Civil War. This month's chosen book is For Cause and Comrades: Why Men Fought in the Civil War. James McPherson, America's preeminent Civil War historian, draws on more than 25,000 letters and nearly 250 private diaries from men on both sides. The soldiers' letters were uncensored by military authorities, and are uniquely frank in their criticism and detailed in their reports. McPherson's masterful prose and the soldiers' own words combine to create both an important book on an often-overlooked aspect of our bloody Civil War, and a powerfully moving account of the men who fought it.
