Information Services: Bridging the Technology Divide

Name A Day at the Bosler Memorial Library

Whether you are new to computers or you are bringing your own device to access free WiFi, the library has technology resources for you.

GETTING STARTED

The library provides free access to computers on the second floor in our Information Services Department. Cumberland County residents will need a library card (available for free) to access our computers and non-county residents can get a guest pass. Computers are available for up to 4 hours of use per person per day. They are equipped with the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Our Information Services staff can help you access our collection of manuals including basic computer use, specific programs such as Word and Excel, using social media like Facebook and LinkedIn, and using popular websites like Ebay.

INTERNET RESOURCES

Our public computers include internet access and the library is equipped with free WiFi. To access the WiFi connection, simply select "Bosler Memorial Library" on your device's WiFi settings. A password is not required and there is not a time limit. The library is a great place to access your email, conduct a job search, view instructional videos on YouTube, access government sites for car registration and service applications, shop online, or check your accounts.

PRINTING, SCANNING AND FAXING

  • Print from library computers or make black and white or color copies for $0.25 each
  • Faxing is available at $2.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page
  • Scanning is available for $3.00 for up to 10 pages

RESEARCH WITH DATABASES

The Information Services staff can show you how to access a variety of online databases that provide free access to reliable information. From academic journals, to health references, to magazine and newspaper articles, there are a wealth of resources available. These can be accessed from the library computers, or you can use your library card to sign on from home.

ONE-ON-ONE INSTRUCTION

Are you new to computers? Do you need assistance using word processing or creating a spreadsheet? Make a one hour appointment with one of our Information Services staff members to cover basic computer topics. Assistance with accessing e-books, e-audio, and using your device is available by appointment with our Library Resources department.
