As part of our 2013 Adult Summer Reading Program, Groundbreaking Reads, we will be showing a series of films which have introduced difficult and important societal themes over the last several decades. A complete list of titles may be obtained in the library, but here is a clue for the next showing:
Thelma (Geena Davis) is fed up with her abusive husband and Louise (Susan Sarandon) is in a dead end relationship so they pack up and hit the road in this cinematic journey filled with friendship, character, and truth. The pair flees from the police through the expansive landscapes of America's Southwest after Louise kills the man who tried to rape Thelma. Rated R, 129 minutes (1991).
