Volunteer at Your Library

Volunteer

The Cumberland County Library System welcomes skilled volunteers. Volunteers can help with many things. Some volunteer jobs include:

 

  • Helping with special events or projects
  • Taking books to nursing homes or shut-ins
  • Cleaning and mending materials
  • Opening boxes of new materials
  • Putting jackets, labels and stickers on new materials

 

Tell us about your unique skills and interests, and we’ll see if there is a good volunteer job for you at the library.

Bosler Memorial Library could not provide the services it does to the community without the help of our volunteers, who assist with a wide variety of tasks at the library, every day.

 

Administrative Volunteers may be asked on a regular or occasional basis to help with the following tasks:

 

  • data entry, folding letters, stuffing / sealing envelopes, filing, and other light office tasks.

Volunteers in Buildings and Grounds may perform:

 

  • light housekeeping (dusting shelves and other areas, windows)
  • landscaping maintenance (raking, trimming, mulching, sweeping, weeding and watering)

Volunteers in Youth Services may serve as:

 

  • collection assistants (shelving, dusting, putting up displays)
  • docents (answering questions and leading tours)
  • on-call program assistants (aid in preparing and presenting programs to elementary students and possibly teens, in a variety of subject matters; may include visits to day cares and schools).

Volunteers in Adult Services may serve as:

 

  • collection assistants (shelving books and other materials, and shelf-reading)
  • circulation support (processing items, searching for lost or missing items)
  • reference support (assist with displays or with shelf maintenance)
  • program assistants (setting up, greeting presenters and guests, assisting with A/V equipment)

Volunteers are an essential part of the Simpson Library team and we welcome skilled volunteers. Volunteers help with shelving library materials, book processing, special events, and mending library materials.

 

Volunteer training is provided and a mutually convenient schedule can be arranged. You must be at least 13 years old to volunteer.
