Just a reminder - you are always welcome to stay with your child for our programs. If you choose not to stay at the program, please remain inside the library. We do not have any medical information available for your child and must be able to reach you quickly in the event of an emergency. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Children's Block Party!
You are invited to a BLOCK PARTY here at Joseph T. Simpson Public Library on Saturday, January 9, at 10:30 am.
What is a BLOCK PARTY? It is an hour of fun just playing with wooden blocks and our play animals, vehicles and people! We will be hosting monthly BLOCK PARTIES so come see what it is all about and have some CONSTRUCTIVE FUN!!!

Bring your whole family for an evening of singing with Mr. Music, crafts, musical entertainment by Mr. Ben Goldsborough and his Mechanicsburg High School Students, and a visit from Santa!
When: Monday, December 14, at 6:00 pm
Ages: Family members of all ages.
Registration: Required and must be done on or before Friday, December 11.
Join us on Friday, February 12, 1:00-1:30 pm AND Saturday, February 13, 10:30 -11:30 am for a Stuffed Animal Sleep-Over!
Bring a stuffed animal Friday afternoon to a special Storytime. Leave your animal here to spend the night with all the other stuffed animals! Then Saturday morning at 10:30 am, come back to pick him up, eat breakfast with us, and hear all about his adventures!
Ongoing Story Times
Ongoing Weekly Story Times - Rhyme Time, Toddler Time, and Story Time are presented several times a week throughout the year. Family Storytime is presented once a week on Mondays at 6:30 pm. Download our Story Time Brochure (PDF, 907KB, 2 pages).

Monthly and Special Events
Monthly Events - Kindergarten Club, S.T.E.M. Club, Homeschool Book Discussion, American Girls Club, and Activities Club for Tweens occur once a month from September to May. Download our Monthly Events flyer (PDF, 52KB, 1 page).
Summer Reading Program - This program lasts for 8 weeks in the summer, running from June to August. We offer reading challenges for children of all ages, as well as weekly special events.
Kindergarten Readiness Class - Will your child be attending Kindergarten in September 2016? Do you wonder if they will be prepared for this experience? Our Kindergarten Readiness Class may just be the answer for you! This series of 9 classes is designed for your child AND you to attend. At each class your child will work on activities created to help them make a smooth transition from preschool child to Kindergarten student while you create a new readiness game at each class to take home and play with your child. Registration will begin on Monday, August 3, 2015.

2014 Simpson Butterfly Project
Our Painted Lady butterflies arrived on April 29, 2014 as little caterpillars. For 21 days we watched as the caterpillars transformed into chrysalises and then into beautiful butterflies. We released the butterflies on May 19, 2014.
