Adult Book Discussion

Adult Book DiscussionJoin us for our Adult Book Discussion on November 18, at 7:00 pm!  We're reading Blink: The Power of Thinking without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell.

This is an intriguing look at whether snap judgments are valid. The author claims that those made quickly are just as sound and reliable as those considered over a longer period of time. Using a technique that he calls thin-slicing, he gives real life examples ranging from predicting who will have a heart attack, to a purchase of a statue by the Getty Museum where the experts knew something was wrong, and a marriage researcher who can tell with 90% accuracy and within 15 minutes which couples will divorce.

The author has written 5 New York Times best sellers, and has been named one of the 100 most influential people by TIME magazine and one of the Foreign Policy’s Top Global Thinkers.
