Fizz, Boom, Read Free Weekly Entertainment
Fun with reading programs abound this summer at the New Cumberland Public Library as the 2014 Summer Reading Program is rolled out with the theme “Fizz, Boom, Read ” beginning June 2nd --- July 31st.
Preschool through 5th grade readers will spark their imaginations as they join the Fizz, Boom, Read 2014 Summer Reading Program.
From June 23rd – August 2nd, children will receive a different prize each week they read, record, and present their reading logs to the staff member at the Children’s Room circulation desk. They may also earn raffle tickets toward Grand Prizes – one ticket for every five books that are checked out at the Children’s Desk.
Free weekly entertainment will be held Thursdays at 10:30 AM in the Foundation House. Thursdays programs will include:
June 19, The Science of Magic
Join magician Dave Rojahn as he shows how closely related magic and science really are. See it snow in the middle of summer! Watch gravity fly out the window! Laugh, cheer and learn how science can be FUN!
June 26, Little Red Riding Hood
Help the precocious Little Red stay on the right path and watch out for the Big Bad Wolf! Will the Woodcutter save the day? Silly songs and dances will keep your toes tapping in this classic that will have you laughing all the way to grandma’s house!
July 3, Mother Nature's Night Life!
Real insects and arthropods will help explain basic Entomology and insect anatomy. You’ll have the opportunity to pet, touch and hold harmless live bugs!
July 10, Native American Species
An educator from Zoo America will present a hands-on program about animals native to our home.
- July 17, Rockin and Readin
Join Leonardo as he sings silly songs about science and life!
- July 24, Science Unscripted
Zip, zoom, bang along with Maryland Science Center as they wow you with science experiments!
- July 31, Grand Finale Movie and Ice Cream
