Fun with reading programs abound this summer at the New Cumberland Public Library as the 2013 Summer Reading Program is rolled out with the theme “Dig Into Reading” beginning June 1st --- August 1st.
Preschool through 5th grade readers will explore all things underground as they join the Dig Into Reading 2013 Summer Reading Program.
From June 17th – August 3rd, children will receive a different prize each week they read, record, and present their reading log to the staff member at the Children’s Room circulation desk. They may also earn raffle tickets toward Grand Prizes – one ticket for every five books that are checked out at the Children’s Desk.
Free weekly entertainment will be held Thursdays at 10:30 AM in the Foundation House. Thursdays programs will include:
June 27, Science is Everywhere
John Hadfield presents a science program full of laughs and education.
July 11, Undercover Reptiles
Our favorite animal expert, Jesse Rothacker, will return again with many of his reptilian friends, Jesse entertains as well as educates people of all ages.
July 18, Dig That Beat!
Students from Cedar Cliff High School will entertain us with their mini version of “Stomp”. They will play familiar songs using buckets and other unusual everyday items as their instruments. This program will be held outside on the Foundation Hall lawn. Bring blankets for sitting on and feet for dancing!
July 25, Dig Into Reading Magic Show
Brian Richards will return with his award-winning and exciting magic show.
August 1, Grand Finale10:30-12:30
