LETTER: Library tax benefits a generation

Dear Editor:

The comments made by Barbara Cross at the June Commissioner’s meeting as reported in The Sentinel cannot go unanswered.

Surely commissioner Cross knows that the reason Cumberland County is supporting libraries with a dedicated tax is because citizens of this county voted to approve a library tax in 1986. This tax was approved because the voters recognized that libraries are an essential service, not an optional charity.
