Enjoy the benefits of membership with a Cumberland County Library System library card.  If you are eligible for a card at no charge, you can get a temporary library card that is good for 30 days. By signing up online, you can start using our research databases immediately.  You may also place up to two holds with your temporary card.  To get a permanent card, you must visit your library to complete your registration within 30 days.

Who can receive a library card?

You can get an online library card at no charge if:

  • You live or pay property taxes in Cumberland County, or
  • You live or pay property taxes in the Shippensburg Area School District.

If you have a card from your local public library with an Access Pennsylvania sticker on it, you can visit our libraries to get a card at no charge.

  What identification do I need?

To get a permanent card you must present these items to your local library location:

  • A valid photo identificaton (driver's license or state-issued ID card with current address)
  • Two documents (from this list) to prove your identity and addresss.

Not eligible for a free card?

  • You can visit any library and use most services while you are there.
  • You can buy a library card for $5 per month. To buy your card, visit a library and bring identification with you. You can save time by bringing along a completed library card registration form. (PDF, 41KB, 1 page)
