Great Decisions is America's largest discussion program on world affairs. The name is shared by a national civic-education program, briefing book and television series administered and produced by the Foreign Policy Association. The Great Decisions program highlights eight of the most thought-provoking foreign policy challenges facing Americans each year. Great Decisions provides background information, current data and policy options for each issue and serves as the focal text for discussion groups. In partnership with the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg, this year's discussion group will meet every other Monday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
This fourth discussion (of eight) will cover how the aftermath of the Arab Spring has resulted in unforeseen changes in the political landscape in many countries, especially regarding the role of Islam and democracy. How have the countries in the Maghreb reacted, including Tunisia, where the Arab Spring began? Is U.S. foreign policy adapting successfully to all of the changes in the region?
Cost: $10 per individual session or $40 covers all eight sessions. Registration begins February 1. REGISTER ONLINE or send a check to World Affairs Council of Hbg/Walnut St. & N. 4th St/ 234 Strawberry Square/ Harrisburg, PA 17101. Sponsored by Friends of Fredricksen Library.
