WHAT: Online book club for kids in grades 4-6
WHO: Patrons of the Pollock Children’s Library who are between the ages of nine and twelve. Parents and children’s librarians will have access to the page as well.
WHERE: The discussion board for this group will be located on goodreads.com. In order to be sure of the safety of those involved, there will be specific requirements for joining the group.
• First, the group is set up as a private group so only those who have been accepted by the moderator (one of our children’s librarians) will be allowed to read and comment on the page.
• Only those who have come in and registered in person will be allowed to become members of this group. In this way, we will physically see and know the identity of each member.
• In order to be a member, you must have a Cumberland County Library Card.
• Membership is limited to those who are between the ages of nine and twelve as well as their parents. We will include parents because we know that they are always concerned about what their children are doing and experiencing; however, parents are asked to refrain from commenting on the page. This page is for the members of the book club to share ideas.
In addition to our online discussions, we will have some physical meetings at the library where everyone will be encouraged to attend so that we all know who we are talking to online. It’s nice to have a face to go with a name. These meetings will occur on Sunday afternoons at 2:00. Registration begins Aug. 15.
