Teen Events @ Fredricksen

FREE RESOURCE!

In partnership with Driving-Tests.org, the Fredricksen Library is proud to offer FREE Pennsylvania Driver Permit practice tests.These tests, for both automobile and motorcycle, along with the Driver Handbook for each, are available on our library homepage or by clicking on the icon to the right.  Each test includes 20 to 40 questions that are very similar, often identical to the real Dept. of Transportation test.  Start now to see how ready you are for the real thing!

Kick off a SUPER Summer with our very first Summer Reading Kickoff Party!

We will have a day of HEROIC events & activities for all ages. Sign-ups for Summer Reading begin at 9 am, and the fun begins at 4 pm with FANTASTIC food, MIGHTY music, a MAGNIFICENT movie and much more!

9 am – 9 pm: First day of Summer Reading registration is open! All FIRST DAY (ONLY) Registrants will receive an entry for a chance to WIN one of three 2015 Family Pool Memberships or an iPad Mini! (Drawing June 11th).

4 pm – 6:30 pm: Fantastic Food tents - featuring Cornerstone Coffeehouse, Mad Dash artisan grilled cheese Jigsy's Pizzeria, ice cream and more!

Activities include: A Hero-Themed Sidewalk Chalk Contest for all ages*, Teen Tie-Dye Tent, Touch-a-Truck with Everyday Heroes, Local Groups making Daring Differences and Superheroes on site and more!

5:30 pm – 6:30 pm: Mega Music from Buc Hill Aces

 

6:45 pm – 8:30 pm: FAMILY HERO MOVIE about an inflatable robot Baymax, and prodigy Hiro. Disney PG (indoors - bring a blanket for seating)

Trinidad & Tobago Baltimore Steel Orchestra starts the 2015 Summer Concerts on the Lawn with a dynamic evening as they bring a touch of the Caribbean to the Fredricksen Library.  This stunning group, named Baltimore's official steel drum band, are masters of the steel drum. Their vivacious tropical music rounds out a lively show for all ages. Don't miss the vibrant kickoff to this year's Summer Concerts on the Lawn Series!  (Rain date: Thurs., June 18 at 7:00 pm)

Salons were assemblies of invited guests, common during the 17th and 18th centuries, consisting of leaders in society, art and politics.  Our version is a small group of teens who appreciate the art of filmmaking and want to have deep, meaningful discussions about movies.  We will watch Super 8 our first week then vote on the movies for weeks 2 and 3.  A light supper will be served.  Teens who register should be prepared to have energetic discussions after the movies. 

Registration starts May 15 and teens must be 15 to 18 years old.  All programs sponsored by the Friends of Fredricksen Library.

Camp Hill Dentists Brice Arndt, DDS and Jennifer Price, DDS are partnering with the Cleve J. Fredricksen Library to offer Free Dentistry Day: Giving Back To Our Community One Smile At A Time. Dr. Arndt and Dr. Price and their staff will offer free cleanings, fillings and extractions to anyone requesting their services.  Each patient will have their choice of one service, and patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis at 3975 Trindle Road, Camp Hill.  Appointments will not be accepted. Holy Spirit Health System will be presenting this babysitter training program for ages 11-13. To register call Cheryl Sola at Holy Spirit Health Systems at 763-2553 and leave a message including your name, address, and phone number. A registration packet will be mailed to you. You must attend both sessions to receive a certificate of completion. There is a $30 fee which will include a manual, a backpack and additional supplies. T-shirts and sweatshirts will also be available for purchase. Bring a bag lunch.

You must attend both sessions to receive a certificate of completion. There is a $30 fee which will include a manual, a backpack and additional supplies. T-shirts and sweatshirts will also be available for purchase. Bring a bag lunch.
