Mission Transition 2015/2016:

Preparing for Kindergarten

One Monday a month at 6:30 pm Sept through May

Help your little one prepare for a lifetime of learning by participating in this innovative program developed by our own Pollock Children’s Library staff.

Children attending these school districts are welcome:

Camp Hill (Hoover Elementary) First Monday

East Pennsboro (West Creek Hills and East Pennsboro Elementary) Second Monday

West Shore (Washington Heights, Lower Allen and Highland Elementary) Third Monday

Cumberland Valley (Shaull, Hampden, and Sporting Hill) Fourth Monday

Children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2016 will do kindergarten readiness activities, hear stories, have parachute fun, and work with colors, numbers, letters, sorting, rhyming and science. Kids may meet other future students and make early friendships! Sessions will be on Mon., but moved to Wed. on holiday weeks. Registration starts Aug 3rd with the first session starting Aug 31st.

Tuesday, August 4, 2015 - 6:30pm

Join us on the first Tuesday of every month and help make the world a better place, one kind act at a time. Each month we'll have a theme from the The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation and we'll work together to choose specific acts of kindness. We might leave positive notes around town, send care packages, organize a park clean-up... anything! All ages are welcome - no one is too old or too young to be kind.

Wednesday, August 5, 2015 - 5:00pm

Fredricksen Library Summer Reading Club members and their families are invited to enjoy an outdoor (weather permitting) evening celebration to close our summer of fun. We’ll have a picnic, face painting, photo booth, and balloon animals from 5-7 pm and comedian Pete Geist from 7-8 pm.  Wrist bands will be distributed beginning on July 22 with registration required.

Friday, August 7, 2015 - 6:30pm

Volunteers from the Harrisburg/West Shore Chess Club will be on hand to assist young chess players and match up competitors with equal skill level. Ages 7-13. Participants are asked to bring a chess set if possible but not required. No registration required.
