Great Decisions @ Fredricksen Library

The Great Decisions program highlights eight of the most thought-provoking foreign policy challenges facing Americans each year.  In partnership with the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg, this year's discussion group will meet every other Monday at 1:00 pm. The next two  sessions are as follows:

~ Monday, April 21 at 1:00 pm: Islamic Awakening

~ Monday, May 5 at 1:00 pm: Energy Independence

Cost: $10 per session or $40 covers all eight sessions.

Fredricksen Reads: The Round House by Louise Erdrich

Tuesday, May 13 at 7:00pm

One of the most revered novelists of our time—a brilliant chronicler of Native-American life—Louise Erdrich transports readers to the Ojibwe reservation in North Dakota with an exquisitely told story of a boy on the cusp of manhood who seeks justice and understanding in the wake of a terrible crime that upends and forever transforms his family.  The Round House won the 2012 National Book Award for fiction. Registration is now open.



ZooAmerica & One Book, Every Young Child Story Time!

Thursday, April 17 at 10:00am

Join us during National Library Week for a special story time featuring this year’s One Book, Every Young Child selection Stripes of All Types by Susan Stockdale.  We will read the story and be joined by several animal friends from Zoo America. Snack will be provided. For ages 3 and up with registration beginning April 3.



Film Forward Film & Discussion: Twenty Feet from Stardom

Oscar Winning Twenty Feet From Stardom shines a spotlight on the untold true story of the backup singers behind some of the greatest musical legends of the 21st century.  Millions know their voices, but no one knows their names.  Come enjoy the film and stay afterwards to discuss with moderator Jay Tran, (7 pm showing only) owner of Rock, Paper Records LLC. Rated PG – 13.




Homework Helpers

Thursdays - March 6 through May 8* - 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Retired teachers will be at the Fredricksen Library Lower Lobby to offer individualized tutoring for students in grades 1-5. Students, accompanied by at least one parent, should come to the Library prepared with their homework information, relevant textbooks, worksheets, directions, and supplies. Parents must stay in the Library during the session and are welcome to consult with the tutor at the end of the session. * NO SESSION THURSDAY APRIL 17th..
