Advocate For Your Library

Harrisburg, PA State Capital

After six years of declining support from Harrisburg, the Cumberland County Library System asks library supporters to send a ready-made email to elected officials, asking them to:

  • Support Governor Corbett’s proposed $500,000 increase for the Public Library Subsidy line item;
  • Request an increase of funding for the Library Access line item by $2.9 million for a total of $5.7 million; and to
  • Request level funding for the State Library of Pennsylvania, and Libraries for the Blind & Physically Disabled

Specifically, we seek more funding for Library Access to:

  • Reinstate the State Library Card reimbursement program by restoring about 50% of its funding—$2.3 million;
  • Boost POWER Library (statewide online databases) by $500,000; and,
  • Increase support for the Interlibrary Delivery Service by $100,000.

If granted, this funding request would have a very positive effect on CCLS’ operating budgets because it would reinstate the Statewide Library Card Reimbursement program. It would help us to buy more materials and be open more hours.
