Join the Upstairs Stitchers (aka the Knotty Gals) every Tuesday evening from 6:30 - 8:30 in the Community Room of Bosler's South Wing. Bring your latest embroidery project, sit and chat! The third Tuesday of every month, the Stitchers teach a Beginning Embroidery Class, focusing on a different stitch or aspect of embroidery every month. For a list of classes, please see below. Attendees should bring their own scissors and magnification, if needed.

For more information, call (717) 243-4642 ext 3224 or email

Beginning Embroidery Class Schedule:

Tuesday | February 18 | 6:30 pm

Needle Book: Silk fabric and felt will be sewn together to make a small book used to carry needles. Attendees should bring scissors. All other materials will be provided.

Tuesday | March 18 | 6:30 pm

Red Work: On plain muslin, students will outline various figures using red thread and some different stitches. Students should bring a small hoop and scissors.

Tuesday | April 15 | 6:30 pm

Ribbon Embroidery: Elegant and feminine, ribbon embroidery covers more ground fabric with fewer stitches, and makes lovely flowers. Generally done with silk ribbon, we will use rayon until we get the hang of it. Students should bring a small hoop and scissors.

Tuesday | May 20 | 6:30 pm

Stitching on Perforated Paper: "Perf" paper is not fabric, but is easy to stitch on, once a few tips are provided. We will stitch a small motif on "perf" paper, to get the feel for it. Attendees should bring scissors.
