Support Bosler

Building Futures...Changing Lives

Your generosity makes a difference each year...

  • For a child to be able to attend a Story Time program or check out a new picture book;
  • For a teen to have a quiet place to study and get tutoring help;
  • For an adult to learn how to navigate a job search website or take a class on Microsoft Excel.

Do you even wonder what your community would be like without a public library?

Your continued support is vital to the financial health of Bosler Memorial Library. Even with our local library tax, Bosler must raise almost half of its operating budget each year. Bosler Memorial Library is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. It supports itself through our annual Direct Appeal, Honor/Memorial Gifts, sponsorships, special fundraising events, and funds generated through fines, copy machines, computer printouts and other library operations.  Bosler Memorial Library’s Federal EIN is 23-1381007.

If you have already contributed to Bosler's annual fund drive, "Building Futures...Changing Lives," thank you! If you would like to make a donation to help invest in literacy and access to information for everyone in the community, select Fund Choice "Direct Appeal" from the menu to the right and click the "Donate" button. You can also donate by mail or in person by following the instructions below.

Book Donations

The Bookery accepts donations of new or gently read books, textbooks from 2000 to the present, books on tape and CD, DVDs, and music CDs. Items will be reviewed for possible inclusion in Bosler's collection. We cannot accept damaged items, magazines, condensed books, encyclopedias older than 2000, textbooks older than 2000 or ex-library books. Donations must be taken directly to the Bookery, located in the East Wing of the library, during their business hours. For large donations or for further information, call the Bookery at (717) 243-3313 or click here.

If you would like to make a cash donation for the library to purchase a book in honor or memory of someone, click here for information about our Tribute Books giving option.

Heritage Society for Capital Improvements

Once the new building expansion was completed in 2012, it became time to restore the library's original building, now called the East Wing. Although the Building a Better Bosler campaign included funds to renovate the interior of the East Wing, and a Keystone grant and matching funds were secured to replace the 100-year-old metal roof and skylights in 2013, neither of those projects addressed restoring of the façade of the original building.

In 2014 a special one-year campaign was launched to raise the $200,000 needed to make repairs on the building's façade to restore it to its original splendor. Thanks to the generosity of longtime friends of Bosler Library, Donald and Marjorie Mowery, the Library only needed to raise $100,000 for this project because the Mowerys offered a matching gift challenge to provide the other $100,000.

By December 31, 2014, 73 donors had contributed the $200,000 needed, and restoration work had begun. Donors who gave $1,000 or more by December 31, 2014 were invited to join the library's newly-formed Heritage Society and enjoy a number of special donor benefits.
